August Favorites: Best Month Ever

As you may have noticed, I don’t do “favorites” posts very often. The reason for this is because I don’t want to fill my blog up with fluff. If I’ve written something, it either means a lot to me, or I want you to find it. Having said that, welcome to my August 2017 favorites! This month has been the craziest, most beautiful and eventful life in my life. I’ve compiled events and products for you that have enhanced my days in one way or another. Enjoy!

1. Moving overseas

Yeah, that happened THIS MONTH. I packed all of my bags and moved from Brussels, Belgium to La Crosse, Wisconsin. It has seriously been such a whirlwind. Everything from the flight, to running into my (then) fiancรฉ’s arms, to driving and settling into our new apartment. I’ve never had a such a drastic change in scenery when it comes to new stages of life. I’ve loved every second of exploring this lovely little city, and I’ve met some really incredible people this month.

2. Getting marriedย

Hey, I told you that this has been quite the busy month! I got married to my best friend, and boyfriend of over four years. I’m actually not going to go on much about this, as there is an entire blog post dedicated to it. If you’d like to read about our wedding day, click here!

3. Beauty

It Cosmetics CC+ Illumination: I’ve been hearing incredible things about the IT Cosmetics CC+ cream, but when I went to Ulta to grab it, I realized that there was the Illumination option. This is now my daily foundation! It’s light, provides incredible SPF, and gives me the most gorgeous glowy and dewy finish. My skin seriously looks incredible after applying this baby! My one concern is that the shade in this photo is the second lightest shade in the range, and it is already a little too dark for my pale face. Beware!

Urban Decay Chill Setting Spray: The day before my wedding I realized that I had gotten everything I need to do my bridal makeup EXCEPT setting spray. I quickly ran to Sephora and asked one of the amazing ladies at the counter to help me out. I suffer from eczema and very dry skin, and this Setting Spray covered all of my concerns. It kept my bridal makeup on my face all day, and did NOT make my skin look dried out. It also happens to have one of the most satisfying mists, which is a blessing when it comes to setting sprays because you do NOT want your makeup to run down your face when you spray it.

Maybeline Instant Age Rewind Concealer: This is the only concealer that I have repurchased countless time, and it always does the job brilliantly. I hate the packaging, I love the product, and would recommend this to anyone looking for a heavy-duty, non-drying, high-coverage concealed.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush: I received this blush as a birthday perk from Sephora, and I’m absolutely smitten. The shade I have is called “party” and it’s the beautiful muted mauve that you see below. I wore this blush on my wedding day, and I now find myself reaching for it whenever I do my makeup. The consistency, pigmentation, and staying power – all absolutely incredible.

Anastasia Brow Wiz: Such a classic brow pencil, but can you believe that I had never tried it before? Just like everybody else, my life has been forever changed. It’s extremely precise, and takes a little bit of getting used to, but with time you can create anything from a sleek and clean brow look, to a Cara Delevingne lioness brow.

4. Instax Mini 8

My brother, and sister in law gifted us this adorable little Polaroid Camera, and we’ve gotten insane amounts of use out of it already. We took tons of photos at our wedding with all of our friends, and I find it very handy when it comes to my daily journaling. I had always wanted a polaroid camera, but never looked into getting one, so I guess the stars aligned. If you’re thinking about snagging one for yourself, DO IT!

5. Home

Life with Dylan is such a joy. We spend our days exploring downtown, or snuggling on our couch and watching shows. I have an apartment tour coming soon, but for now here are some of my favorite little bits that somehow made it into our new home. The first is a Mr & Mrs decoration from our wedding that is now hanging in our living room. I’m such a fan of the sparkles, and I couldn’t let it go!

The other thing is a frame that I turned into a galaxy frame with the help of a few water color markers. It holds two photos of me and Dylan, and graces our living room shelves each day!

I hope you enjoyed this look into my crazy exciting month! Is there anything on here that caught your eye? Do you have any recommendations (of any sort) for me? Please let me know in the comments below!

  1. I usually steer clear of favourites post for the same reason as you, I generally prefer to produce meaningful content and not just “fluff” (I love that word), but I can see why you wanted to reflect on this month! Firstly, how STUNNING is your wedding photo? You look absolutely beautiful, I hope you had the most magical day! It truly was heartwarming to see you make your move and finally get to be with the man you love full time! You give me hope that long distance love really can work, so thank you! Looking forward to your upcoming apartment tour!

  2. Aww you look so happy in your wedding photo! I’m so tempted to get an Instax mini, they look so cute and it’d be nice to actually have photos to put around the house! Xx

    1. Thanks love! I agree about the polaroids, and you could make a cute photo wall too… the possibilities are endless ๐Ÿ™‚ <3
